112 Assists Old Forge FD
12.21.2015 - The department's monthly meeting got cut short with a response into Old Forge for a working structure fire on Maple St. Chief 93 (Old Forge) arrived, reporting a well involved RV fire wiht extenstion into a garage and nearby exposures. A second alarm was then requested.
Engine 112 was assigned the second hydrant and stretched into the scene. The 112 crews then checked for extension in the exposure building before going to work relieving the initial companies.
Crews operated for close to two hours before returning to service.

Rescue Assists Kingston FD
10.20.2015 - The Chief & Rescue were requested into Kingston for a mid afternoon fire with reported entrapment. While responding, R112 was advised to report to Command and that the company would be put to work upon arrival.
Once on scene, the 112 crew were tasked with completing a secondary search of the first floor while attack team continued to battle flames in the home's basement. The Rescue crew helped with overhaul before spending some time standing by as RIT before being released by command.

Vehicle Rollover on Interstate
10.17.2015 - The Chief & Rescue responded along with Dupont FD and Avoca EMS to Interstate 81 South for a vehicle rollover Saturday afternoon. After dispatch, 911 advised responding units of entrapment on the scene.
Crews arrived to find a vehicle on its roof with the driver semi-responsive in the back seat area of the car. After completing stablization, crews removed the doors and "B" post so that EMS could provide treatment and complete patient removal.
Assisted provided by Greenwood Rescue 98.

Engine Assists w Tractor Trailer Fire
9.1.2015 - The first run of September takes the Engine & Chief onto I81 in Moosic for a working tractor trailer fire. Upon arrival, the crews were tasked with supplying Engine 98 (Greenwood) with water while the crew took to the trailer to move pallets of wood chips to provide access to the burning portion of the trailer.
A quick knock on the fire by the Greenwood & Old Forge engine companies limited the damage to the trailer's contents.

Crews Tackle Mill St. Fire
8.8.2015 - As members were working the department's softball tournament at the Little League complex, word came in of a house fire nearby. Almost at the same time, 911 began dispatching the first alarm companies for a working house fire on Mill St in the Borough.
Rescue 112 marked on scene less than 2 minutes from dispatch, confirming the working fire with smoke showing from the rear of the home. Engine 112 arrived next, grabbing the plug across the street from the residence. As the interior attack got underway, crews found that the hydrant was non operable, forcing the attack team to back out briefly.
Engine 126 (Germania) established secondary water supply from Mill & Commerce Sts, allowing companies to get back at it. In all, the fire was controlled within 20 minutes, with the home suffering extensive damage to the first floor and smoke/water damage throughout.

Midday Commercial Fire
8.3.2015 - Engine 112 responded shortly after 1pm along with other first alarm companies for a working warehouse fire on Gleason Dr, Moosic. Upon marking on location, Chief 98 (Molinaro) upgraded the response to a 2nd alarm.
Upon arrival, Engine 112's crew worked with Engine 93 to place a 2.5" line into service through a man door on the address side. A short time later, Command asked for a 3rd alarm, bringing additional manpower to the scene. Once clear of the scene, Engine 112 responded to a fire alarm at the WNEP building on Montage. The engine was cancelled while responding.
Rescue assists w Old Forge Wreck
8.3.2015 - Rescue 112 was requested by Old Forge Command to assist with a motor vehicle accident with multiple patients trapped. Prior to Rescue 112's arrival, crews from Old Forge, Taylor and Greenwood operated for more than an hour to free the trapped victims.
Upon arrival, the 112 crew was tasked with relieving first due companies. The 112 members worked for 20-30 minutes before seeing victim #2 get freed from the wreckage.
In all, companies operated for more than three hours at the scene. We'd like to extend our condolences to the family of the young female who didn't survive her injuries.

Extrication in Dupont
7.22.2015 - Rescue 112 responded along with Dupont FD, Avoca EMS & Medic 303 to Pittston Ave in Dupont just below Grand Rental Station for a single car accident. Avoca EMS was first arriving, reporting a car into an utility pole and asking the Rescue to prepare to forcibly open the driver's door.
Upon our arrival, crews stabilized the vehicle and got patient protection in place via short board and blankets. The driver's door would be opened in 2 minutes. After further patient evaluation by EMS, it was determined that the rear door and "B" post should also be removed to provide additional room for patient removal. In all, the operation would be completed in 15 minutes.

Chapel Rd, Structure Fire
6.7.2015 - The Engine, Rescue & Chief all responded to Chapel Rd, Pittston Twp Sunday morning for a residential structure fire. Pittston Twp EMS arrived first, reporting a working fire with all occupants evacuated. Engine 112 was next to arrive and placed a 2.5" line into service to knock down much of the fire to the rear of the home.
After completing the primary searches, Duryea Ladder teamed up with the 112 Rescue and worked to keep the fire from spreading in to the remainder of the home. Engine 126 placed a second line into to service and kncoked down the interior fire. Due to the great teamwork by all companies, the fire was contained to the rear of the home, which sustained extensive fire damage.
No injuries were reported.

Commercial Structure Fire - Jenkins Twp.
5.13.2015 - Rescue 112 responded on a 2nd alarm to a commercial structure fire on Thompson St, Jenkins Twp Wednesday morning. First alarm crews were dispatched and advised evacuations were in progress. Engine 148 arrived shortly thereafter, reporting a well involved building in the rear of the property. Jenkins & Pittsotn City engines both established water supply into the scene.
Due to the types of chemicals used at this facility, air quality was of concern early on in the incident. Rescue 112 arrived, establishing the RIT staging area before completing a 360 and forcing open several man doors. Throughout the incident, R112 members were called upon to cut through walls to provide access to the hose lines.
Crews operated for close to six hours before returning to service.

1st Alarm Basement Fire in Dupont
5.8.2015 - The Rescue & Engine responded to assist Dupont FD with a working basement fire on McLean St in Dupont. PD were first arriving and reported smoke showing from the front of the home. Engine 125 laid out and proceeded to get attack 1 into service. Rescue 112 crews were next arriving and went to work handling utilities and conducting primary searches of divisions 1 & 2.
The 112 Engine crew would then assist with some overhaul.

Tractor Trailer Rollover - I81
5.7.2015 - Shortly before 7am, Rescue 112 was dispatched to I81 North at the 178 mile marker for a tractor trailer rollover in the construction zone with confirmed entrapment. Due to the backlog of traffic, 112 units accessed the site by traveling south in the nothound lane from the Lackawanna county line.
Crews arrived to find the truck rolled over onto its passenger side with the driver entrapped in the cab. Access was quickly gained and EMS determined that the male patient had already succumbed to his injuries. Crews then moved onto handling the large amount of diesel spilled from the truck's saddle tanks.
Crews operated for more than 3 hours prior to returning to service.

Rescue Operates at City Fire
4.30.2015 - Rescue 112 responded as part of a first alarm assignment for a working structure fire at a former Rectory on Church St, Pittston. As PFD crews were responding, they reported smoke visible from downtown. First due companies arrived to find heavy fire showing from the rear of a three story residential building.
Upon arrival, the R112 crew was initially assigned RIT duties. Not long into the incident, the Rescue Co would be re-assigned to division 2 and 3 to hook ceilings to expose fire for the engine companies.
The fire would go two alarms. No injuries were reported.

Truck Rollover with Pin
4.20.2015 - Rescue 112 responded into Dupont Monday morning for the reported box truck rollover with entrapment. While responding, the Rescue was advised to expedite the response and that heavy entrapment was involved. Rescue 112 went ahead and requested next due Rescue, bringing Pittston Twp Rescue to the scene.
Crews arrived to find a boom truck rolled over onto its driver's side, off the roadway in a yard. Crews found one male patient, alert and talking still in the cab of the truck. Crews went to work with hydraulic cutters, spreaders and rams to enlarge an extrication pathway before cutting components of the steering wheel to allow the lower extremities to be moved. The patient was removed and care transferred to EMS.

4.12.2015 - The Rescue, Chief & Fire Police all assisted at an accident Sunday morning in the 900 block of William St in the borough. While no injuries on scene, a large mess was made that impacted all nearby residences as well as detouring traffic throughout the morning.

Early Morning Moosic Fire
4.2.2015 - Our volunteers were at it again this morning, responding to a fire on Corey St, Moosic Borough. Upon arrival, Engine 112 established secondary water supply, laying out 300' of supply line before manning an attack line on the B side of the home. 112 crews would operate on the 2nd floor roof before tackling fire in the well involved attic space.
Chief 112 assisted with command activities. No firefighter injuries were reported. 112 returned to service after 3 hours of work.

3.31.2015 - Eninge 112 was sent as part of a first alarm assignment to Winfield Ave, Moosic for a kitchen fire. As crews were responding to the scene, the column of smoke was visible from miles out.
Chief 98 (Molinaro) arrived, reporting heavy fire showing from the rear of the home. Engine 98 was first due, followed by Engine 112. The 112 crews were tasked with placing attack 2 into service on the home's 'D' side.

Crews tackle Suscon Rd Fire
3.22.2015 - Shortly after midnight, the Engine, Rescue & Chief responded with the balance of first alarm companies to Suscon Rd, Pittston Twp for a reported structure fire. Just after dispatch, 911 provided an update that PD were confirming a working house fire.
Engine 112 with a full crew hit the plug at Suscon & Armstrong Rd to establish primary water supply, laying into Pittston Twp's engine. The engine crew assisted in getting attack 1 into service, making entry through the front door. With heavy fire showing from the rear of the home, the Rescue crew placed a second attack line into service.
Crews would be able to to contain the fire damage to the rear of the home, while smoke, heat and water damage occured throughout the residence. One male resident was transported by EMS after suffering burns while escaping the blaze. There were no firefighter injuries.

Midday Vehicle Fire
3.4.2015 - Engine 112 assisted Duryea FD with vehicle fire in the 700 block of York Ave Wednesday afternoon. Crews arrived to find a small fire burning in the car's under carriage after the rear axle seized up. E112 stretched out the bumper line to completely extinguish the blaze.

3.3.2015 - 112 responded as part of a 1st alarm structure box for a commerical structure fire on York Ave, Duryea. Fire reported to be in the warehouse area of the large glass making facility. Crews arrived to find a well advanced fire, which was extending throughout the facility.
Engine 112 hit the 2nd hydrant and laid into the B side of the building. 112 crews deployed the blitzfire gun along with a 2.5" line. A 2nd & 3rd alarm would be transmitted in the first ten minutes.
The Engine & Rescue crews teamed up and worked together throughout the incident. Crews worked both interior and exterior lines, supplied multiple ladder pipes and assisted the truck companies in opening up the roof area on the A side of the building. Chief 112 worked Command/Accountability on the D side of the incident.
In all, more than 30 departments from across Luzerne & Lackawanna counties responded along with multiple EMS agencies, EMA, DEP and the American Red Cross. The fire would cause extensive damage throughout the entire facility.
Station 112 would like to extend a Thank You to the Plains Twp FD for sending an engine and crew to standby at station 112 for the duration of the fire.

2.26.2015 - Members cleared the station for a working structure fire on Luzerne Ave, West Pittston late Wednesday night. This is the 3rd time crews responded to this building to fight flames.
Upon arrival of first alarm companies, crews found heavy fire venting from the 3rd floor windows. Engine 112 crews placed several ladders before teaming up with the Rescue Co and stretching the second attack line. Crews checked for extension in the Delta side attic before working w Duryea ladder on hooking ceilings and completing some overhaul.

2 Alarm Old Forge Fire
2.01.2015 - Engine 112 responded on a first alarm assignment for a working structure fire on Connell St, Old Forge. Command 93 was first arriving, reporting smoke visible from a block away and started the SRN companies.
After ensuring all occupants were out of the building, crews briefly attempted an interior attack before the operation going defensive due to advanced fire conditions. Engine 112 hit the plug at Main & Connell st, establishing the secondary water supply before going to work.
Crews worked for several hours in the cold and snow to completely extinguish the blaze.

1.12.2015 - For the third time in three days, 112 crews would be called out to assist on a structure fire. Today, the Engine responded to assist Jenkins Twp FD with a working fire on Westminster Rd. Laflin & Jenkins crews arrived to find a well involved fire and a homeowner with burn injuries.
The 112 crews setup the RIT team upon arrival. Engine 112 would be put on the hydrant to supplement the water supply. Due to severe fire conditions, several structural collapses were encountered by crews on scene. Crews operated for several hours prior to being released by command.
Flames Destory Glendale Home
1.11.2015 - Late Sunday morning, Station 112 was called upon to assist Pittston Twp with a residential fire on Glendale Rd. Engine 112 was first arriviing, establishing water supply and getting a 2.5" line into service along with the midship deck gun. As additional units arrived, the step gun and 1.75" handlines would be placed into service.
Due to the severe damage, the fire would be fought defensively. In addition to the home, crews had to contend with a well involved RV and pickup truck.
Crews operated for close to 3 hours before returning to service. Sadly, several family pets perished in the fire. We send our thoughts to the family.

Basement Fire in West Pittston

1.10.2015 - As the Rescue & Chief were preparing to clear an accident on Main St, a structure box was dispatched for Wisner St in West Pittston. As units were responding, Hughestown Chief arrived, reporting a working fire in the basement.
Upon arrival, the Rescue was tasked with assisting in placing attack 1 into serivce while controlling utilities and checking the first floor for extension. Crews on scene not only fought the fire, but battled cold temperatures as the wind chills were below zero.
Crews quickly contained the fire and operated for more than an hour before returning to service.

MVA w Entrapment on Heidelberg Bridge
1.3.2015 - Rescue 112 was dispatched Saturday morning along with Engine 125 to the area of Quail Hill for a reported MVA with injuries. The location of the incident would be changed to the Heidleburg bridge.
Upon arrival, EMS 512 reported an entrapped victim in one of the vehicles. The rescue crew used the cutters and the jaws of life to make access to the drivers side of the vehicle by displacing the drivers and passenger side door. The victim was taken out of the vehicle and transferred to the EMS care.
